The Frog Prince, Continued

Title: The Frog Prince, Continued
Author: Jon Scieszka
Genre: Traditional Literature
Summary: “The Princess kissed the frog. He turned into a prince. And they lived happily ever after” is almost what happened. They weren’t really happy; they were actually miserable and they didn’t know what to do. The Prince stayed in the castle with the Princess even though they were always fighting because he reread his story and it says “They lived happily ever after. The end.” He stayed and drove the Princess crazy. The Princess said it would be better if he was still a frog, so he ran into the forest looking for a witch to turn him back into a frog. The witch he saw didn’t help him, so he ran deeper into the forest and came to a tiny cottage where he saw another lady who might be able to help him. Nobody believed him that he was the Frog Prince. Next, he came to another house with a witch outside. This witch told him that Hansel and Gretel were coming over for dinner. The Prince ran deeper into the forest and soon, he was completely lost. Prince saw a Fairy Godmother next. She was on her way to see a girl in the village about going to a ball, but she was willing to try and help him. She turned the Prince into a beautiful carriage. Prince became more frightened. Then, the clock struck midnight. The carriage instantly turned back into his former self and he ran back to his castle. Princess had been worried sick. The Prince looked at the Princess, who had believed him when no one else had, who had actually kissed his slimy frog lips, who had loved him. “The Prince kissed the Princess. They both turned into frogs. And they hopped off happily ever after. The end.”
