Title: I Love My
Hair!
Author: Natasha
Anastasia Tarpley
Genre: Multicultural
Summary: Every night
before she goes to bed, Keyana, an African American girl, sits down between her
mother's knees to have her hair combed. But no matter how gently Mama pulls, it
still hurts sometimes! Keyana doesn't feel lucky to have such a head of
hair--until Mama reminds her of all the lovely ways her wonderful hair can be
fixed.
Characters:
Keyana, Keyana’s mother
Setting: Keyana’s
house, school
Plot: N/A
Theme: Self-confidence
Opinion: I really
enjoyed reading this book because it showed that you need to be happy as to
what you look like. Keyana was not confident because she looked different, but
children must know that even though everyone looks different, it’s okay to be
different from others.
