The Gingerbread Pirates

Title: The Gingerbread Pirates
Author: Kristen Kladstrip
Genre: Fractured Fairytales
Summary: Jim and his mother were making gingerbread men on Christmas Eve. These were gingerbread pirates. At bedtime, Jim took it to his room, wishing the pirate had a ship. When Jim went to sleep, the pirate wondered where his crew was. He tested his peg leg and he ran until he came to a cliff. Next, a mouse was nibbling on his cutlass. The mouse called, “Merry Christmas!” Captain Cookie turned the corner and saw a huge Christmas tree and two pirates looking at him; Wavy and Dots. They heard Santa Claus coming and began to run away…all the way to a cookie jar. Santa found them and promised not to eat them. He explained that he was just in the house because it was Christmas. Wavy showed the other pirates his ship and wished Santa a Merry Christmas. On Christmas morning, Jim’s mother found an empty plate to the mantel. Jim was too busy admiring his presents. His favorite was the pirate ship and its pirate crew.
