The Litle Red Hen


Title: The Little Red Hen
Author: Elizabeth Lane

Summary: The hen wanted to make bread with the grain of wheat she found. None of her friends wanted to help, so she did it herself. Next, the little red hen asked her friends to help her harvest the wheat. Again, none of her friends wanted to help so she did it herself. Next, the hen asked her friends to carry the wheat to the mill, and to no surprise, she did it herself. The hen mixed the bread alone and baked the bread alone. When she asked the cat, duck and pig to help her eat the bread, they all agreed to help. The hen told them no because they didn’t help her make it. The hen shared her bread with her baby chicks as she cut them into big, thick slices. They were all so happy.
Theme: What goes around comes around
Plot: The hen had to do everything by herself so she wouldn’t let her friends eat the bread because they didn’t help.
